We’ve all had days when we feel like skipping work outs and sleeping in. I know I’ve had those days. When I willed myself to exercise anyways despite whatever excuse I could use for not having the time, I can’t say that I’ve ever regretted having any workout sessions. Some form of exercise can be done at anywhere at any time even if you don’t have membership to a gym. For example, you could jog outside; do push-ups, sit-ups and stretching at home. All is required is some effort and the results are tremendous. These are 10 reasons you have a workout regimen.
-
Live longer – Working out helps to keep your body healthy which enables you to live longer. A research published in 2012 discovered that moderate exercise of half hour, five days a week, will increase life span on average by 3.4 years.
-
Boost Energy – Studies have shown that simple activities such as walking in a leisure manner can boost energy levels by 20 percent. People who exercise regularly have more energy and more productive than their peers.
-
Increase happiness – People who work out, whether moderate or vigorous, have more pleasant feelings than those who don’t. This is because endorphins (chemicals that reduce pain perception while triggering positive emotions) are released when we exercise.
-
Self-confidence – No matter your fitness level, exercise will help you feel better about yourself and improve image. Simply seeing improvements like running faster or farther than before boosts self esteem
-
Become more immune to disease – Regular exercise helps to shield your body by reducing stress that could increase the risk of illness. The more we stay away from the hospitals and medical bills, the more money we have to do the things we.
-
Strong muscles and flexibility – Adding weightlifting, stretching and some form of cardio not only helps you look younger, it will enable us to prevent some minor injuries as we age. Stretching helps circulate blood flow by sending more blood to your muscles which helps reduce the risk of heart diseases. Strength training builds muscle which increases the metabolism to burn more calories.
-
Enhance memory – Working out often can improve the memory. A study found that exercises like running and swimming expands the size of the hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for learning and memory.
-
Replace bad habits – The advantage of exercise is that it’s a healthy way to deal with addictions. It allows you to cope with stress by improving your mood. Studies have shown that intense aerobic work outs like running minimizes the thoughts smokers have to smoke a cigarette. The urge to smoke also decreased for as long as 50 minutes afterwards. Exercise also prevents weight gain by curbing appetite for junk food.
-
Better sex life – Consistent routine of exercising improves energy levels and physical appearance, which can make your sex life better. Regular physical activities can increase arousal for women and men who work out regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than men who don’t work out.
-
Sleep well – Exercising can help promote better quality of sleep by strengthening circadian (recurring naturally on a twenty-four-hour cycle) rhythms.
